Inferno Wave Symphyllia LPS Brain Coral

This is a WYSIWYG specimen. You will receive the exact coral pictured โ€” a true one-of-a-kind piece.

Inferno Wave Symphyllia is a visually captivating large-polyp stony (LPS) coral defined by glowing orange veins that flow across a darker base, interspersed with vivid green speckling. The pattern creates a dynamic, wave-like effect that gives the coral both movement in appearance and strong visual depth under reef lighting.

Symphyllia corals develop thick, fleshy tissue over a solid skeletal framework, forming the classic brain-like structure for which they are well known. Because of its layered colour pattern and natural symmetry, this specimen draws attention without appearing overly chaotic, making it well suited to mixed and LPS-focused reef aquariums.

Colour and Visual Character

This Symphyllia displays a darker foundation tone with bright orange striping radiating along the ridges of each lobe. Fine green speckling is scattered throughout the surface, adding contrast and texture. Under blue and actinic lighting, the orange veins intensify while the green highlights become more pronounced, enhancing the flowing โ€œinferno waveโ€ appearance.

Once settled, the coral exhibits full daytime tissue expansion. This expansion enhances its presence and allows the colour pattern to remain crisp and clearly defined, without any true movement.

Care Level and Placement

Inferno Wave Symphyllia is a slow-growing, fleshy coral that thrives in stable reef systems. It prefers moderate lighting and low to moderate, indirect flow, which allows the tissue to expand fully without stress. Strong or direct flow should be avoided.

Placement on the sand bed or lower rockwork is recommended. Because Symphyllia can extend sweeper tentacles, adequate spacing from neighbouring corals is important. Minimal disturbance during the initial acclimation period supports long-term health and consistent expansion.

Feeding and Compatibility

Although this coral relies on symbiotic zooxanthellae, it benefits from occasional target feeding. Small meaty foods or fine frozen blends can support steady growth and colour retention. Controlled feeding also helps maintain balanced nutrient levels within the aquarium.

Why Choose an Inferno Wave Symphyllia?

This coral offers dramatic patterning, strong colour contrast, and refined structure, making it an excellent choice for reef keepers who want a statement piece without sacrificing balance. With proper placement and stable parameters, Inferno Wave Symphyllia can thrive long term and remain a visually arresting centrepiece in a carefully planned reef display.

๐Ÿ”ง Our System Parameters

  • Alkalinity (KH): 8.5 dKH

  • Calcium: 430 ppm

  • Magnesium: 1350 ppm

These parameters reflect the conditions in which our corals are maintained prior to sale.

๐Ÿšš Coral Acclimation Guide

To help your coral settle in comfortably, float the sealed bag in your aquarium for 20โ€“30 minutes to allow temperature acclimatisation.

After this period, remove the coral from the bag and place it directly into the aquarium. Do not drip acclimatise, as prolonged exposure to shipping water can stress corals.

For the first 24โ€“48 hours, position the coral in a low light and low flow area. This allows it to adjust gradually to its new environment. After this period, you can slowly move the coral to its final position based on its lighting and flow requirements.
