Lava Forge Fungia LPS Plate Coral
This is a WYSIWYG specimen. You will receive the exact coral pictured โ a true one-of-a-kind piece.
Lava Forge Fungia is a visually striking large-polyp stony (LPS) plate coral defined by its molten orange and bronze coloration and a glowing central disc. Radiating ridges extend outward from the centre, creating a forged, sunburst-like pattern that gives the coral depth, symmetry, and strong visual presence under reef lighting.
Fungia plate corals grow as free-living discs rather than attached colonies. Because of this growth form, they offer dramatic impact without encroaching onto surrounding rockwork. This specimen displays clean tissue coverage and balanced structure, making it an excellent choice for open sand-bed placement.
Colour and Visual Character
This Fungia shows a vivid molten centre that transitions into deeper amber and bronze tones toward the outer plate. Under blue and actinic lighting, the central disc intensifies while the surrounding ridges gain contrast and texture. As a result, the coral maintains a dynamic appearance throughout the lighting cycle.
When settled, the coral expands fully during the day, increasing its overall size and presence. This expansion enhances its profile without any true movement.
Care Level and Placement
Lava Forge Fungia thrives in stable reef systems with low to moderate lighting and gentle water flow. Strong or direct flow should be avoided, as it can irritate tissue or prevent full expansion.
Placement on the sand bed is strongly recommended. Fungia corals can inflate and shift slightly over time, so leaving open space around the coral helps prevent contact with neighbouring pieces. Because this species displays semi-aggressive behaviour, adequate spacing from other corals is important at all times.
Feeding and Compatibility
Although Fungia corals contain symbiotic zooxanthellae, they benefit from occasional feeding. Small meaty foods such as mysis, finely chopped seafood, or reef blends can support growth and long-term health. Feeding once or twice per week is sufficient.
Fungia corals integrate well into mixed reef systems when given space, but their semi-aggressive nature means they should not be placed too close to other corals.
Why Choose a Lava Forge Fungia?
This coral offers a powerful combination of molten colouration, structured texture, and classic plate coral form. Its forged, glowing appearance makes it ideal for reef keepers seeking a statement piece that remains refined rather than overstated. With proper placement and stable conditions, Lava Forge Fungia can thrive long term and remain a standout feature in any reef aquarium.

๐ Coral Acclimation Guide
To help your coral settle in comfortably, float the sealed bag in your aquarium for 20โ30 minutes to allow temperature acclimatisation.
After this period, remove the coral from the bag and place it directly into the aquarium. Do not drip acclimatise, as prolonged exposure to shipping water can stress corals.
For the first 24โ48 hours, position the coral in a low light and low flow area. This allows it to adjust gradually to its new environment. After this period, you can slowly move the coral to its final position based on its lighting and flow requirements.
