Pinky Orange Symphyllia LPS Coral
Pinky Orange Symphyllia is a striking large-polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its bold colouration and flowing, brain-like structure. It displays rich orange tones with soft pink highlights that intensify under reef lighting. As a result, this coral quickly becomes a focal point in mixed and LPS-dominated reef aquariums.
Symphyllia corals grow thick, fleshy tissue over a sculpted skeleton. Because of this structure, they add depth, texture, and contrast to reef layouts. Additionally, their large surface area enhances visual impact from multiple viewing angles.
Colour, Texture, and Visual Impact
This Pinky Orange Symphyllia shows strong pigmentation across its ridged surface. Under blue or actinic lighting, subtle fluorescent highlights become more visible. Therefore, the coral maintains interest throughout the lighting cycle.
Healthy specimens display full tissue expansion during the day. As a result, the coral often appears larger than its skeletal base. This expansion gives the coral a soft, inflated appearance that adds gentle movement to the aquarium.
Care Level and Placement
Pinky Orange Symphyllia has a moderate care level, making it suitable for reef keepers with stable systems. It prefers low to moderate water flow, which allows tissue to expand safely. However, strong or direct flow can cause tissue damage and should be avoided.
Moderate lighting supports colour development without stressing the coral. For best results, place this coral on the sand bed or lower rockwork. Because Symphyllia can extend sweeper tentacles, proper spacing from neighbouring corals is essential.
Feeding and Compatibility
Although this coral relies on symbiotic zooxanthellae, it benefits from supplemental feeding. For example, small meaty foods or fine frozen blends can support growth and colour. Additionally, careful feeding helps prevent excess nutrients in the system.

To help your coral settle in comfortably you must float the bag in your tank for 20-30 minutes (to temperature acclimatise your new coral). Then put your coral straight into your tank (do not drip acclimatise) in a low light/low flow area for a day or 2. This allows your new coral to adjust to its new home’s conditions.
