Tie Dye Symphyllia LPS Brain Coral

This is a WYSIWYG specimen. You will receive the exact coral pictured โ€” a true one-of-a-kind piece.

Tie Dye Symphyllia is a visually striking large-polyp stony (LPS) coral recognised for its unique blend of colours and bold contrast. This specimen displays a cool blue base tone with scattered neon green speckling and warm orange highlights along the ridges, creating a distinctive tie-dye effect across the entire coral.

Symphyllia corals grow thick, fleshy tissue over a solid skeletal framework, forming the classic brain-like structure they are known for. Because of this balanced mix of cool and warm pigmentation, this LPS brain coral stands out immediately in mixed and LPS-focused reef aquariums.

Colour and Visual Detail of This Symphyllia

This specimen shows deep blue tissue across each lobe, with fine green speckling dispersed throughout the surface. Subtle orange accents appear along raised edges and natural growth lines, adding warmth and complexity. Under blue and actinic lighting, the green pigmentation intensifies while the blue base deepens, enhancing overall contrast.

Once settled, the coral exhibits full daytime tissue expansion. This expansion enhances its presence and allows colour separation to remain crisp and clearly defined, without any true movement.

Care Level and Placement

This slow-growing, fleshy LPS coral thrives in stable reef systems. It prefers moderate lighting and low to moderate, indirect flow, which allows the tissue to expand fully without stress. Strong or direct flow should be avoided.

Placement on the sand bed or lower rockwork is recommended. Because Symphyllia can extend sweeper tentacles, adequate spacing from neighbouring corals is important. Minimal disturbance during the initial acclimation period helps ensure long-term health.

Feeding and Compatibility

Although this coral relies on symbiotic zooxanthellae, it benefits from occasional target feeding. Small meaty foods or fine frozen blends can support growth and colour retention. Controlled feeding also helps maintain balanced nutrients within the system.

Why Choose This Symphyllia?

This coral offers a rare colour combination, strong contrast, and refined texture that appeals to serious LPS collectors. With proper placement and stable parameters, it can thrive long term and remain a standout centrepiece in any reef aquarium.

๐Ÿ”ง Our System Parameters

  • Alkalinity (KH): 8.5 dKH

  • Calcium: 430 ppm

  • Magnesium: 1350 ppm

These parameters reflect the conditions in which our corals are maintained prior to sale.

๐Ÿšš Coral Acclimation Guide

To help your coral settle in comfortably, float the sealed bag in your aquarium for 20โ€“30 minutes to allow temperature acclimatisation.

After this period, remove the coral from the bag and place it directly into the aquarium. Do not drip acclimatise, as prolonged exposure to shipping water can stress corals.

For the first 24โ€“48 hours, position the coral in a low light and low flow area. This allows it to adjust gradually to its new environment. After this period, you can slowly move the coral to its final position based on its lighting and flow requirements.
