Golden Meridian Fungia LPS Plate Coral
This is a WYSIWYG specimen. You will receive the exact coral pictured โ a true one-of-a-kind piece.
Golden Meridian Fungia is a visually striking large-polyp stony (LPS) plate coral defined by its intense golden central disc and evenly radiating ridged structure. The bright core acts as a natural focal point, while the surrounding textured tissue creates a balanced, sunburst-like appearance that stands out clearly under reef lighting.
Fungia plate corals grow as single, free-living discs rather than attached colonies. Because of this growth form, they offer dramatic presence without spreading onto surrounding rockwork. This specimen displays strong symmetry and clean tissue coverage, making it an excellent display piece for open sandbed areas.
Colour and Visual Character
This Fungia displays a vivid golden-yellow centre that gradually transitions into warmer amber and darker outer tones. Under blue and actinic lighting, the central disc intensifies while the fine ridges along the plate gain contrast and depth. As a result, the coral maintains visual interest throughout the lighting cycle.
When settled, the coral expands fully during the day, giving it a broad, disc-like profile. This expansion enhances its size and presence without any true movement.
Care Level and Placement
Golden Meridian Fungia thrives in stable reef systems with low to moderate lighting and gentle water flow. Strong or direct flow should be avoided, as it can cause tissue irritation or prevent full expansion.
Placement on the sand bed is strongly recommended. Fungia corals can inflate and shift slightly over time, so leaving open space around the coral helps prevent contact with neighbouring pieces. Because this species can display semi-aggressive behaviour, adequate spacing from other corals is important at all times.
Feeding and Compatibility
Although Fungia corals contain symbiotic zooxanthellae, they benefit from occasional feeding. Small meaty foods such as mysis, finely chopped seafood, or reef blends can support growth and long-term health. Feeding once or twice per week is sufficient.
Fungia corals should be given space from neighbouring corals due to their semi-aggressive nature, but they integrate well into mixed reef systems when positioned correctly.
Why Choose a Golden Meridian Fungia?
This coral offers a clean, radiant colour profile combined with classic plate coral form. Its bright golden centre and structured texture make it ideal for reef keepers seeking a statement piece that remains elegant rather than overpowering. With proper placement and stable conditions, Golden Meridian Fungia can thrive long term and remain a standout feature in any reef aquarium.

๐ Coral Acclimation Guide
To help your coral settle in comfortably, float the sealed bag in your aquarium for 20โ30 minutes to allow temperature acclimatisation.
After this period, remove the coral from the bag and place it directly into the aquarium. Do not drip acclimatise, as prolonged exposure to shipping water can stress corals.
For the first 24โ48 hours, position the coral in a low light and low flow area. This allows it to adjust gradually to its new environment. After this period, you can slowly move the coral to its final position based on its lighting and flow requirements.
